Interview Tips
If you have gotten as far as getting an interview then you have rounded a corner. They have seen your resume and you have made the cut so know it is time to meet you. By doing your inter view well you have done all you can do. Don't the little points mess you up now,
Before your interview
- Make sure you read over all the documentation they send you to make sure you are ready. Seeming unprepared will end an interview quickly.
- Make sure you reply to your interview letter. That will make sure you understand the time and let's them know you are still open
- Be early. One, you don't want to be late but also it gives you a little time to fill out any forms they have for you.
- Make sure they know you are there and who you are, You don't want to miss the interview by sitting in the lobby.
- Make sure to bring your interview letter with you to refer to if needed
- Have copies of your resume as well. They might mis place your s or there might be someone new that needs to see it.
- Have all your documentation with you.
- Dress well. They do not want to hire a slob.
- Be sure you know what you wrote down and how you did it. If your resume implied a job was a great learning experience the the interview should reflect that.
- Do a background study of the company. It will make you look interested and keep you from asking poor questions.
At the interview
- Knock before entering. Being polite goes a long way
- A gentle smile will go a long way
- Keep eye contact. To avoid it infers dishonesty
- Pay attention to your body language: it is 80% of your communication.
- Be clear about your goals and point out, from your past, how you will be able to do that
- Be very truthful. Even getting caught in a small lie can end an interview.
- They need someone that can be cool under pressure. Show them you can be.
- Be sure to ask questions. It shows that you think before you act.
- Be careful about talking about money. You don't want to seem greedy
- Do not talk bad about former employers. It will make them think you will do the same about you.
Send A thank you note. They did take time to interview you so you should acknowlege that and be great full. It also shows class.
